Horace Ray Brandon, 89, of New Johnsonville, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, at Humphreys County Nursing Home in Waverly, surrounded by his loved ones. A visitation for Horace Brandon was held on Thursday, July 18, from 5-8 p.m. and on Friday, July 19, from 11 a.m. until the service time beginning at 1 p.m. at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly with Aaron Martin officiating. Burial was at Richlawn Cemetery in Waverly.

He was born in Huntingdon, on September 2, 1934, to Enoch Brandon and Elsie Crossett Brandon. Horace was a man of God. He became a member of the Trace Creek Baptist Church in 1958 and was very active by becoming a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Director, Training Director and RA Leader. Horace had 38 years of service with DuPont where he retired as their manager of labor relations.  He proudly served his country with 21 years of service in the Army National Guard where he retired as a company commander with the rank of Captain. Among the many accomplishments and service to both his family and country he attended and became a graduate from Bethel University with a BA Degree in economics.   He enjoyed gardening and traveling with his beloved wife of 69 years Peggy Joyce Cavender Brandon. Horace was known for his love and devotion to his family and community and will be missed greatly by all his family and friends.

Left to Cherish his memory is his loving wife Peggy Joyce Cavender Brandon, daughter Melissa (John) Schwerdtfeger of Waverly; son Michael (Judy) Brandon of New Johnsonville; grandchildren Christopher (Sarah), Kayla, Brandon (Laura), Brooke (Ross) , Ali (Reece), Grant (Amanda), Lydia (Dylan) & Adam (Erin); great grandchildren Gregory, Cameron (Miranda), Kylie, Lucy, Norah, Autumn, Eli, Miloh, Bo, Jack, Julia, Isabella, Adam, Jr. & great-great grandson, John. He is preceded in death by his parents Enoch and Elsie Brandon, son Monty Brandon, and brothers, Douglas Brandon & Joe Brandon. Arrangements have been entrusted to Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN.
