In the midst of gloom,, danger, and defeat, God inspired the psalmist to write Psalm 46 which begins, “God is” (vs. 1) and continues to describe God as One who loves us and to whom we can pray, always with us, our unfailing help in trouble, deliverer, fortress, hope, power,  and comfort, friend of the lonely, holy, dependable, available, adequate, consistent, near, provides salvation, strength and reinforcement, banishes despair, fear, and gloom , presides over His creation, and  is triumphant at the end
