Town council members plan for CDBG grant

Huntingdon Town Council members passed the three items of business on the agenda at the Jan. 14 meeting.

Vice Mayor Tim Tucker presided in the absence of Mayor Dale Kelley who was a patient at Vanderbilt Hospital after having undergone surgery. It was reported he was doing well and would be home in a few days.

The town plans to apply for a 2020 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). A resolution was passed to hire the administration services of Community Development Partners, LLC to provide assistance in the preparation and administration of the grant application.

A second resolution passed that will hire the engineering services of J. R. Wauford & Co. for the preparation and implementation of the CDBG grant. As the last order of business, Laytoria Willis’ water bill was adjusted because of a broken pipe. The bill for the 2019 water was $1,321.41. Under the normal adjustment policy, the bill would have been adjusted to $354.77. However, a precedent has been set in prior situations where the council adjusted the bills to $250 which was done in this case.
